What skills do I need to work with Art Inspires You?
You just need to know how to use a computer, email, and be able to keep to deadlines, and we’ll teach you the rest. Our mission is to empower artists with tools to help themselves for success. Education is a priority at Art Inspires You.
How do we communicate?
We make all calls using Skype, a free video conferencing software. For packages, we use Skype for consultation prior to starting your project, and again for our final walkthrough of your completed project. Between these steps, we communicate via email. We also use Skype for hourly consultation and website audits. Download our “Introduction to Skype” tutorial for a taste of our educational materials.
How do I stay organized?
You’ll also receive a tutorial to use your client portal for the business side of our work together (i.e. invoices, emails and deadlines), as well as file sharing information.
How do I give you my files and images for our work together?
You’ll provide us your content via cloud sharing service, such as DropBox or Google Drive. Our welcome email includes information to help you understand more about digital files, images, and file sharing services, so that you can deliver the content we need for our work together.
How do we start our work together?
Simply complete our "Getting Started Questionnaire," and we'll be in touch for your complimentary discovery call via Skype. * You must have Skype installed and provide your username in order to work together.
How do you accept payment?
We accept payment via credit card and PayPal.
How does the payment process work?
Packages: Prior to starting our work together, we require a non-refundable 20% deposit. This will be applied towards your total payment. The remaining 80% of your balance is split in (2) parts: 40% to be paid when the project begins, and the remaining 40% paid upon project completion.
Consultation: We require a non-refundable one-hour minimum payment for any consultation services, and will bill the accumulation of hours on a bi-weekly schedule based on our work together.
Website Audits: In order to book the audit you will pay the full $249 to secure your spot in our schedule. This is a single payment and you will not incur future charges. If you would like to book additional time for your website audit beyond the hour, you may be charged our hourly fee.
What do you need for artist statements?
You’ll provide us any previous biographies, statements, resumes and CVs that may or may not be online in order to further inform our writing.
What do you use to build client websites?
We use website software Squarespace.com. This two-in-one platform allows us to build your website and host it (i.e. a home where your website lives on the internet) all in the same place, and even includes a free domain name!
Will I be able to use Squarespace?
We build websites in Squarespace for its ease of use. With drag-and-drop features and its easy navigation, you should be able to update your website on your own in the future.
Is the cost of website hosting included in the cost of a website package?
The cost of hosting is a separate fee paid directly to Squarespace to keep your site up and running. Clients working with AIY Studio receive 20% off cost of annual hosting their first year. Annual host fee is paid directly to Squarespace.com; see prices at https://www.squarespace.com/pricing.
Clients must purchase a “Business” level plan; this plan allows for integrations and services without which our work may not be functional or complete as intended.
Are websites mobile-friendly?
Yes, websites will respond to look their best on any device.
Will you help me curate the art I want to put on my website?
Yes! First and foremost, we're artists. We're happy to provide our thoughts to help curate your website content.
Are there any other "freebies"?
Your lifetime access “Client Portal” will feature free downloads, templates, tips and tutorials to keep you moving forward. You’ll also be able to join our private “AIY Studio” Facebook group where you can talk to other AIY Studio members and be part of this exclusive community.
What if I need more help after a project has concluded?
After a project is completed, you can hire us at an hourly consultation rate for minor updates, or purchase another pre-existing service option. We provide tutorials with our project packages so that you can help yourself going forward, and you’ll always be part of our community.
